How to Celebrate Nat’l Hospice Month

November is National Hospice Month, and our community is pulling together to celebrate, support, and raise awareness of hospice care. From eating out to dressing down, and selfie-tag to penny wars, there’s a way for everyone to get involved. Questions? Call us at 859-986-1500.

COMMUNITY

Sat., Nov. 7, 9am-4pm, Compassionate Care Center, New Volunteer Training: The community is invited to attend a training for new hospice volunteers. Please register with Tina at 859-626-9292 or hospice@hospicecp.org.

Nov. 2-Nov. 9, Selfie-Tag: Get involved with the #unselfieforhospicecareplus Selfie-Tag campaign. The campaign raises both funds for and awareness of hospice care in our community.

MADISON COUNTY SCHOOLS

For the first time ever, the Madison County School system is participating at both the elementary and middle school levels.

Penny Wars: Elementary schools will hold a Penny War to see which school can raise the most funds for hospice care. The winning school will take home the Hospice Service Traveling Trophy.

Dress-Down Days: Middle schools will allow students to take a break from uniforms with dress-down days.  For a small donation, students can go without uniforms on specified days.

RESTAURANTS

Four local restaurants are either donating proceeds, prizes, or supporting awareness on specific nights.

On Nov. 6, Buffalo Wild Wings will donate a portion of sales to Hospice Care Plus.

On Nov. 12, 5-7PM, Chick-fil-A will host an information booth about hospice care and also raffle a free tray of chicken nuggets.

On Nov. 19, Mad Scoops and Domino’s Pizza join forces for Pizza & Ice Cream Night. A portion of proceeds from both restaurants will be donated to Hospice Care Plus.

GOVERNMENT

Mon, Nov. 2, Proclamation: Mayor Jim Barnes and County Judge Executive Reagan Taylor will co-sign a National Hospice Month proclamation in Richmond, while Mayor Steven Connelly will sign one in Berea.

Month of November, Courthouse Lawn Display: The courthouse lawn in Richmond will be filled with 706 flags, representing the number of loved ones Hospice Care Plus cared for in 2014.
