Volunteer

Volunteers are vital to our mission.

Volunteers founded our organization in 1981, and more than four decades later, they remain at the heart of the care we provide.

We invite you to join our volunteer team and become part of a compassionate community dedicated to supporting patients and families during some of life’s most meaningful moments. With a variety of programs and roles available, there are many ways to get involved and make a difference.

Our volunteers come from all walks of life. Some work full time, some are retired, and others volunteer while attending school. No matter your schedule or stage of life, we work with you to find an opportunity that fits.

While training is required, we make the process welcoming and straightforward, providing the guidance and support you need to feel confident and prepared as a Hospice Care Plus volunteer.

Getting started is easy.

Call or email us. You can call us during regular work hours to talk about volunteer opportunities, or send an email to volunteer@hospicecp.org.

Submit our Volunteer Application. If you know you want to volunteer, feel free to go ahead and complete a volunteer application. We’ll reach out to you once it’s reviewed.

Not quite ready to apply? Fill out a volunteer training interest form below and our Volunteer Coordinator will reach out to you with next steps.

Here are just some of the ways you can be part of our care and services.

Care and Companionship

Volunteers are matched with patients and caregivers who need a little extra support. They may call to check on them, agree to visit every couple of weeks for companionship, or give the caregiver a break for a few hours. Volunteers in this role may bring special skills to the match, such as scrapbooking, that come in handy in working with a caregiver or patient. Care and companionship volunteers might agree to one-time matches for a simple task, like running an errand, or commit to a long-term match involving ongoing visits.

To Visit My Favorite Fishing Hole

Mr. Smith (name changed) loved to fish. Every weekend for most of his life, he managed to fit in a time to fish for a while at his favorite fishing hole. His wife, Mary, often told us that his fishing spot was like his second home.

A Last Christmas with Sara

This bucket-list story is about sweet young Sara (name changed). We had the honor of caring for Sara, and of working with her family to help prepare them for life without her.

To Make Thanksgiving Dressing One More Time

LeAndra Sullivan, 57, a bubbly, irrepressible optimist with a heart of gold, refused to let cancer keep her from living. In fact, that’s why she chose hospice care—she had too much left to do, and she needed help making sure she could do it.
