Hee Haw Hoedown, Aug. 13

The theme of this year’s summer event is Hee Haw Hoedown.

The annual Estill County summer fundraiser is back after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID pandemic. This year’s event is the Hee Haw Hoedown, slated for Saturday, Aug. 13, from 6-9 p.m. at the Estill County Fair Barn.

Tickets are $50 and include dinner, entertainment, silent auction, live auction, and much more. Reserve your tickets through Aug. 1 by calling Regina Robertson at 606-726-2022.  For news and updates about the event, follow them on Facebook.

For well over a decade, a dedicated group of Estill County citizens has worked together to put on a yearly event to raise funds for Hospice Care Plus. These events have become known for their creative themes and enjoyable, yet relaxed, setting.

Michelle Hardy Osborne, planning committee member and former Hospice Care Plus board member, is excited to get back with friends in person again.

“Each year we pick a theme and then go with it. This year’s theme is Hee Haw Hoedown, so we are trying to replicate the fun of what you remember when you watched that show,” says Michelle. “There will be some pickin’ and grinnin’, jokes, a delicious country meal, and a big live auction item that we are all excited about.”

The night will also feature chicken-poo bingo, a photo booth, a silent auction, prizes for the decorate-your-own-table sponsors, and much more.

All proceeds are donated to Hospice Care Plus, Estill County’s provider of hospice, palliative, and bereavement care.

“So many people have told me how much Hospice Care Plus has meant to them after they had a loved one who was in their care,” says Michelle. “Those people, including myself, look for ways to give back. This is one way they can do that and have a fun night out in the process.”

The money raised over the years by this dedicated group has helped Hospice Care Plus provide care and services regardless of insurance status or ability to pay.

Special thanks to committee members Erin Leach, Michelle Hardy Osborne, Regina Robinson, Shari Witt, Stephen Willis, and Tina Caroland for dedicated service to our community.

To See Blake Shelton

June 6, 2016, was a magical day for Hospice Care Plus patient, Brenda Roberts. She was in the audience to see one of her favorite people, Blake Shelton, perform at the Country Music Hall of Fame CMA Theater in Nashville.

To Give Back

Don Ray loved music. Specifically, he loved to collect it, sing it, and entertain with it. By the time he chose hospice care, he had thousands of CDs that made up an impressive collection for one of his favorite hobbies: karaoke.

To Make a Joyful Noise

Marlene Payne had a very specific wish. Granting that wish would involve getting her up five flights of stairs into a bell tower, so she could play the instrument she loved one more time.
