WWAG’s Dangerous Dan will co-host a special Hospice Radio Day on Dec. 1.
For the second time in two years, Hospice Care Plus is partnering with WWAG-FM for a special Hospice Radio Day program on December 1 from noon until 4 p.m.
The WWAG-Hospice Radio Day will feature several special guests, including entertainment by Phillip Akemon, Jerry Sparks and wife Carmen Leah, and “Granny,” whose performance of “Beautiful Star of Bethlehem” at last year’s Radio Day helped put Hospice over its fundraising goal.
Other special guests include local business and civic leaders and families who have received hospice care and want to share their stories. The phones will be open during the entire four hours to accept pledges of support for hospice care and for on-air testimonials.
“This was a new fundraiser for us when we did it last year,” says Brenna Wallhausser with Hospice Care Plus. “And it was so much fun, and so moving, that we couldn’t wait to do it again. It also far surpassed the modest goal we set and raised over $5,000.”
One of the reasons for last year’s success was the partnership between PRTC and WWAG, which allowed PRTC’s viewers to see Dangerous Dan for the first time on the air.
“There were so many calls from listeners who were thrilled to finally see Dangerous Dan on their TV sets,” says Brenna. “I think that had a lot to do with how successful the program was.”
PRTC once again plans to broadcast both Dial and Deal and Hospice Radio Day on Channel 9 on Dec. 1.
To listen to the Hospice-WWAG Radio Day on December 1, tune into 98.9 Berea or 107.9 McKee. PRTC subscribers can listen and watch the program on Channel 9. Listeners throughout Estill, Jackson, Lee, Madison, Owsley, Rockcastle, and surrounding counties are in the stations’ listening area. The Radio Day will begin immediately following the Dial and Deal program.
