Journaling Through Grief: A New Grief Support Series

Books used in Journaling Through Grief Series

Hospice Care Plus is offering a new grief support series called Journaling Through Grief, starting Jan. 14 and ending June 24. The group will meet every second and fourth Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at the Madison County Public Library in Berea. Enrollment is limited to 12 and is open to anyone in the community. Register today to secure your spot!

The series uses “Understanding Your Grief” and “The Understanding Your Grief Journal” by Dr. Alan Wolfelt to facilitate compassionate dialogue and peer support. All materials are provided by Hospice Care Plus. Pre-registration is required and can be completed online or by calling Denise McKinney, our grief support coordinator, at 859-986-1500.

Journaling can help us process a new way of living in our loved one's absence.

Denise says the weekly group is relaxed and informal. “Taking the time and space to sit with our grief through writing honors our loved ones and helps us process a new way of living in their absence.”

You can follow news and updates about our Journaling Through Grief Series on our Facebook event page.

Other Grief Support Series events are being planned in different locations throughout our service area of Estill, Jackson, Lee, Owsley, and Rockcastle counties. A 4-week Grief Support Series is already scheduled for Estill, Jackson, and Rockcastle counties. Details on all currently scheduled support events and additional grief support services are available here.

In addition to our Grief Support Series, Weekly Grief Support Gatherings are available at our Compassionate Care Center. The weekly group meets on Fridays from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Learn more and pre-register here.

For those who are unable to attend support meetings or who prefer one-on-one support, Denise offers virtual, phone, and in-person appointments. To request an appointment, call 859-986-1500 or pre-register online.

Our Grief & Loss Support Services are available to the families of those we care for as well as to residents of our six-county service area: Estill, Jackson, Lee, Madison, Owsley, and Rockcastle counties.

Our grief and loss events, groups, and gatherings are provided to our community at no charge. Donations to our non-profit organization make this possible.
