Hospice Care Plus is offering several new support groups for those grieving the loss of a loved one. The newest addition is a six-week Grief Support Series.
The series uses focused topics for each session with opportunities for participants to share their experiences. The last session is dedicated to creating a shadowbox in memory of your loved one, with all supplies provided by Hospice Care Plus.
Denise McKinney, our grief support coordinator, says the weekly group is relaxed and informal.
“There is never any pressure to talk. Sometimes, it is helpful just to be present with people who understand,” says Denise.
Grief Support Series events are being planned in different locations throughout our service area of Estill, Jackson, Lee, Owsley, and Rockcastle counties. A series is already scheduled for Estill and Jackson counties. Details on all currently scheduled support events and additional bereavement services are available on our website.
The Jackson County Grief Support Series begins April 17.
The Estill County Grief Support Series begins May 29.
In addition to this special six-week series, our Weekly Grief Support Gatherings resume at our Compassionate Care Center on April 5. The weekly group meets on Fridays at 12 p.m. Learn more and pre-register here.
For those who are unable to attend support meetings or who prefer one-on-one support, Denise offers virtual, phone, and in-person appointments. To request an appointment, call 859-986-1500 or pre-register online.
Our Grief & Loss Support Services are available to the families of those we care for as well as to residents of our six-county service area: Estill, Jackson, Lee, Madison, Owsley, and Rockcastle counties.
