Hospice Radio Day Dec. 1

For the first time ever, Hospice Care Plus is partnering with WWAG-FM for a special Hospice Radio Day event on December 1 from noon until 4pm.

The WWAG-Hospice Radio Day will feature several special guests, including families who have received hospice care and want to share their stories.  The phones will be open during the entire four hours to accept pledges of support for hospice care.

“This is a new fundraiser for us,” says Brenna Wallhausser, director of public relations with Hospice Care Plus. “But it’s also a very special time to hear first-hand stories from family members who want to share their experience with WWAG’s listeners.”

Brenna says that some of the guests will be familiar to listeners.

“I’ve talked about hospice so often on WWAG,” says Brenna. “And I love to share the stories that mean so much to me.  One of the stories I’ve shared on air is about the grandmother who needed to see her youngest grandson board the school bus for the first day of school. This was something she needed for quality of life and peace at the end. We worked with the family to make it happen, even though the first day of school was weeks away. That grandson, Deacon, will be in the studio with us, along with his parents, for Hospice Radio Day. I can’t wait to hear his memories of that last day with his grandmother and what it meant to him.”

WWAG’s Dangerous Dan will co-host Hospice Radio Day with Brenna Wallhausser on Dec. 1 from 12-4.

Radio Day’s interviews will be interspersed with music, commercials, and pledge announcements.  A live, in-studio performance by a surprise guest is also planned.  Scheduled guests include Jackson County Judge Executive Shane Gabbard, Rev. Evert VanZant of Gray Hawk Baptist Church, Vicky Sparks, Donna Lynch, Jackson County Sherriff Paul Hays, Mary Ann Keck of Promise Neighborhood, Keith Gabbard of PRTC, and a representative with Jackson County Bank.

To listen to the Hospice-WWAG Radio Day on December 1, tune into 107.5 Berea or 107.9 McKee. Listeners throughout Estill, Jackson, Lee, Madison, Owsley, Rockcastle, and surrounding counties are in the stations’ listening area. The Radio Day will begin immediately following the Dial and Deal program. Both Dial and Deal and the Hospice Radio Day will stream live on PRTC channel nine.

All proceeds from the Hospice-WWAG Radio Day will go to support the organization’s non-profit hospice, palliative, and bereavement programs.
