Summer Affair for Hospice Care Aug. 11

For more than a decade, a group of Estill Countians has thrown a yearly dinner party to raise funds for hospice care in their community. This year, their Summer Affair for Hospice Care is on Saturday, August 11, at 6 p.m., at the Estill County Fair Barn on 38 South Irvine Road in Irvine.

The Summer Affair is known for its fun themes, and this year is no exception as Monopoly takes over the evening. Guests will be treated to a sit-down meal, games, prizes, live & silent auctions, photo props, jail or bail, and more.

This is the 12th event planned and sponsored by the local committee. Members include Shari Flynn, Jeannie Gregory, Erin Leach, Michelle Hardy Osborne, Tina Pasley, Regina Robertson, Kathy Samples and Amber Venable. From the beginning, Citizens Guaranty Bank in Irvine has played a central role in the event.

Mrs. Osborne is the current chair of Hospice’s Advisory Board and a member of its Board of Directors. Mrs. Flynn and Mrs. Leach are also members of the Advisory Board, while Mrs. Gregory is a former member. Mrs. Samples is former president of Hospice’s Board of Directors.

“Compassionate care is the very heart of this organization, and to be a small part of it makes our hearts happy,” says Mrs. Robertson. “The countless number of volunteers and the community support says a lot about this organization. Being around this great group of people has personally inspired me.”

Tickets are $50 per person and reservations are due by August 9. To reserve your tickets, call Mrs. Robertson at 606-726-2002. Once guests have reserved their tickets, they may pay at the door or mail their ticket fees to Regina Robertson at PO Box 630, Irvine, KY, 40336.

The organizing committee will also accept donations from those who can’t attend but who would like to support the event and hospice care. Those donations may be mailed to the same address. All proceeds from A Summer Affair for Hospice Care go to Hospice Care Plus.

“We can’t thank Citizens Guaranty Bank and the committee enough,” says Cris Sexton, development director at Hospice Care Plus. “Not only do they make sure it’s a fun night, they do it with so much heart for what hospice care means to patients and families. The funds they’ve raised over these 12 years have directly and positively affected quality of life for families in this community.”
