Give a Heart for Hospice in Feb.

During the month of February, the community is invited to give a heart for Hospice.

Give online or at participating banks now through February 29.

All month long, this fundraiser gives you the opportunity to show your support by donating for a heart for Hospice online or at participating banks. It takes a lot of heart to provide care for all, regardless of insurance status or ability to pay. The annual Hearts for Hospice fundraiser is one way to make that possible.

Here’s how it works:

• If you donate for a heart online, you will indicate who the heart is donated by and, if you wish, who it’s in memory of. We’ll display the heart all month long at Hospice Care Plus & Compassionate Care Center, 350 Isaacs Lane in Richmond.
• If you want to donate at a participating bank (see the list below), visit their lobby or drive through and tell them you would like a heart for Hospice. The bank will take your donation, let you fill out your heart, and they will display it in their lobby all month long. At the end of the month, they present all donations to our organization.

How else can you help?

• Share our Hearts for Hospice posts on your social media platforms. We post on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram. Use the hashtag #heartsforhospice to raise awareness.
• Share this story with friends and family by email or text and encourage them to participate.
• Take a selfie with your heart at a bank or at our Compassionate Care Center, then post it to social media.

Why should you help?

• Our Palliative Care Program is 100% funded by donations. It is not reimbursed by any insurance program, and it does not invoice patients and families for care.
• Our Grief and Loss Program’s outreach to the community is 100% funded by donations. It is not reimbursed by any insurance program, and it does not invoice for care. When we hold support groups, work one-on-one with a child or adult, and host memorial services like the annual Remembrance Tree Ceremony, it is because of our donors.
• When we make a special experience possible for patients and families, like the recent art exhibit for a patient in our Home Hospice Program, that, too, is only possible because of community support.
• Care for patients and families who are uninsured is 100% funded by donors. We also make sure that the under-insured receive care and services. That’s why we can say we provide care for all, regardless of insurance status or ability to pay. You make that possible.
• Our speakers bureau is 100% funded by donations. Each year, we give free presentations on advance care planning, grief and loss, caregiver issues, and hospice and palliative care.
• All proceeds from Hearts for Hospice support hospice, palliative, and bereavement care in Estill, Jackson, Lee, Madison, Owsley, and Rockcastle counties, funding care regardless of insurance status or ability to pay.

The hearts give you space to add the donor’s name, a memorial name, or both.
