The 2016 Bucket-List Challenge Campaign kicks-off Friday, Feb. 26, with seven days of inspiring stories about hospice patients and families.
The Bucket-List Campaign is a fundraising event, but also raises awareness about hospice care. For seven consecutive days, Feb. 26 to March 4, Hospice Care Plus will share one
bucket-list story each day. The stories highlight the wishes and dreams of hospice patients and family members, and the efforts of families, Hospice, and community partners to make those dreams a reality.
Last year’s Bucket-List Campaign raised just over $9,000 over the course of 10 days. This year’s campaign has a goal of $5000 in seven days.
Brenna Wallhausser, director of public relations at Hospice Care Plus, says the campaign is an ideal educational tool.
“We use a quote from a physician and author—Dr. Atul Gawande—who says that people don’t want a good death; they want a good life until the last moment. That’s what the bucket-list campaign is all about, really. People don’t stop living simply because they know they’re in their final months. They have a lot of living to do, and we appreciate the opportunity to help them do it. Sharing these stories helps people understand the purpose of hospice care in a deeper, more personal way.”
