On Sat., Oct. 15, Church on the Rock’s Rockhouse will play host to a Bluegrass & Gospel Concert Fundraiser. The event is organized by Donna Angel, vice president of Community Trust Bank in Berea, and friends as a benefit for Hospice Care Plus.
Tickets are $30 and can be purchased online. Children 12 and under admitted free. Doors open at 2 p.m. The concert begins at 3:30 p.m. and will continue well into the night. The event also features concessions and a silent auction.
Confirmed headliners are Joe Mullins and the Radio Ramblers, Laurel River Line, Wilderness Road, and Harold Sparks and Friends.
Joe Mullins and the Radio Ramblers are a nationally renowned Bluegrass group that plays regularly at the Grand Ole Opry and whose latest release features legendary guests such as Ricky Skaggs. Laurel River Line hails from London, Ky., and has two well-received albums under its belt. Wilderness Road calls Rockcastle County home and recently released “Pickin’ Bluegrass Gospel.” Harold Sparks and Friends is not only playing the concert, their frontman, Mr. Sparks, is helping book talent and promote the event.
While the concert will take place indoors at the Rockhouse, the side of the building will be opened to the outdoors, allowing for camp chairs to be set up outside if desired. Picnic tables will also be available.
Bluegrass and gospel fans can preview the bands and their music on Wed., Oct. 12, 12-2 p.m., on WWAG 98.9 in Berea or 107.9 outside of Madison County. WWAG’s Dangerous Dan will play selections from all the scheduled bands and give away free tickets.
Sarah Rollins, special events coordinator at Hospice Care Plus, says Donna Angel’s events are always memorable.
“Donna and her committee of friends—Emogene Hartman, Teresa Scenters, and Lonnie Reppert—work incredibly hard to put together a night that is entertaining, enjoyable, and successful,” says Sarah. “We’re very honored they’ve chosen to designate the funds for our programs.”
According to Sarah, Donna and her friends always ask Hospice Care Plus what they need, and then raise funds accordingly.
“Last year, they used the proceeds from their dinner event to replace the couches and chairs at our Compassionate Care Center,” says Sarah. “We were able to purchase items that are much more comfortable for the family members who stay at the Center with their loved one.”
Tickets can be purchased online through our secure event site or at Community Trust Bank on Walnut Meadow Road in Berea. For questions, contact Hospice Care Plus at 859-986-1500. All proceeds go to Hospice Care Plus.
