Noodle Nirvana Announces Hospice Partnership

Noodle Nirvana, Berea’s fast-casual restaurant featuring homemade, Thai-inspired noodle bowls, has announced its most recent community partner.

Lauren Van Winkle, left, development coordinator at Hospice Care Plus, joins Mae Suramek for the launch of the Noodle Nirvana-Hospice Care Plus partnership on August 6.

Hospice Care Plus, based in Berea, is the fourth non-profit organization to be the beneficiary of Noodle Nirvana’s mission to thrive as a small business while supporting its community with high-impact donations to local non-profits over the course of a year.

From August 1 through June 30, 2020, 25% of profits every first Tuesday of the month and in-store tips and gratuity each day will be donated to Hospice Care Plus. In addition, Hospice will be featured on Noodle Nirvana’s non-profit wall throughout the designated time period, and the organization will host an information booth at the restaurant on each first Tuesday.

“We are so grateful to Mae, Adam, and  the entire Noodle Nirvana family for selecting us, and to their customers for making these partnerships so successful,” says Brenna Wallhausser, Hospice’s director of public relations. “It’s an unparalleled opportunity not only to raise funds for the care we provide, but also to raise awareness about both our hospice and palliative care programs.”

Owner Mae Suramek and her husband Adam both had hospice care with their fathers.

“We learned first-hand how important hospice care is,” says Mae. “So, it’s personal for us, and our staff was fully supportive. It felt like the right time to partner with Hospice Care Plus.”

In 2016, its first year partnering with a local non-profit, Noodle Nirvana raised $30,000 for the New Opportunity School for Women. In 2017, the total was $44,000 for the Madison County Food Bank. The most recent partnership, with Hope’s Wings Domestic Violence Program, raised $41,000.
