Hospice Hoedown Coming Apr. 12

A hoedown is coming to Mt. Vernon, and it’s for a great cause.

The first-ever Hospice Hoedown is Friday, April 12 at 7 p.m. at the Silver Eagle.Untitled design (3)

Touted as old-fashioned fun, organizers say the Hoedown will feature live music by Strait Shot, a homemade BBQ meal, a cake walk, cloggers, dancing, a silent auction, and more.

“We’ve had a great time planning the hoedown,” says Chasity Coleman, director of development at Hospice Care Plus.  “And we’re so excited about doing this at the Silver Eagle with its amazing dance floor and music space. It’s a true hidden jewel.”

Chasity and Hospice Care Plus staff are working with a local committee to make the Hoedown a great experience. The organizing committee includes Rockcastle County residents Melinda Finley, Sherry Spragens, John Lambert, Jennifer Masters Ponder and Stephanie Maxwell working in conjunction with Chasity and additional Hospice staff. Sponsors include Brodhead Farm Equipment, Citizens Bank, Collins Respiratory Care, Community Trust Bank, Cox Funeral Home, EST Tool & Machine Inc., Goff Excavating Company, Limestone Grill, Livingston Community Lions Club, Marcella’s Farm to Fork, Mt. Vernon IGA, Plastisud Inc., the Randolph Scott Insurance Agency, Tom Mills, and Weichert Realtors & Ford Brothers Auctioneers.

“Our sponsors and organizers have been so creative and supportive,” says Chasity. “They have a passion for hospice care and they all love a good night out, so they’re perfect for this event.”

Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at the door on April 12 or in advance at the secure, online reservation site or by calling Hospice Care Plus at 859-986-1500 during regular business hours. The Hospice Hoedown also has its own Facebook event page, and tickets can be purchased there as well. Recommended for ages 16 and up.
