Bourbon, Boots & BBQ May 5

UPDATE: We are officially SOLD OUT of reservations for the Bourbon, Boots & BBQ Derby Eve Party.

Madison County’s longest-running Derby Eve party has reached its 20th year, and reservations are available now through April 28.

The Bourbon, Boots & BBQ Derby Eve Benefit will take place Friday, May 5, at 6 p.m., at Churchill’s, in the historic Churchill Weavers building in Berea.

The 2023 Bourbon, Boots & BBQ will feature a catered dinner, a live concert, complimentary Oaks Lily cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, an open bar, a live and silent auction, an optional bourbon tasting, and much more. Both the open bar and the bourbon tasting are offered in conjunction with Honeysuckle Restaurant, part of Churchill’s organization.

The Goodwin Brothers are returning to perform at the benefit.  This popular bluegrass-Americana band out of Lexington recently won the 9th Annual Lexi Award for Bluegrass Artist of the Year.

The Goodwin Brothers return to perform at the 20th Annual Derby Eve Party.

Reservations are $100 per person and include all event amenities except the bourbon tasting, which is an additional $25.

Attire is up to guests, but our development coordinator, Stefanie Manes, encourages creativity.

“One of the things that makes this event so fun is that there isn’t a dress code. People can choose their favorite outfits for a night of dancing.  Some come in their best western clothes, others in classic Derby dresses and hats, and many just come casual. Everyone is welcome.”

Bourbon, Boots and BBQ began as the Spring Thing event, 20 years ago.  It was created to raise funds to help Hospice Care Plus build the Compassionate Care Center. In later years, it became known as the Run for the Roses Derby Eve Benefit and, more recently, the Gala on Derby Eve. It now raises funds for all Hospice Care Plus programs.

“Events like these are an important part of how we provide care for all, regardless of insurance status or ability to pay,” says CEO Lisa Cox.

This year’s event is organized by committee members Caira Aldridge, Stacey Brinegar, Cheree Crowe, Connie Lawson, Karen Linville, Amanda Marcum, Julia Merritt, Tammy Warford, and Katelyn Watkins.

The benefit’s presenting sponsor is Cumberland Valley National Bank, and its platinum sponsor is Kentucky Printing.
