Join Us for New Volunteer Training on March 21

Hospice Care Plus is hosting an in-person training for new volunteers on Saturday, March 21, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Madison County Public Library (507 W Main Street, Richmond, KY). Registration is required by March 18.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided, along with plenty of breaks throughout the day. Participants will also hear directly from our nurses, social workers, chaplains, and experienced volunteers about the meaningful ways you can support patients and families.

“Our volunteer team includes full-time working adults, high school and college students, and retired professionals,” says Mariah Smith, Volunteer Coordinator. “No matter your schedule, we work with you to find the best fit.”

Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. For more than four decades, they have provided comfort, compassion, and support to patients and families across Estill, Jackson, Lee, Madison, Owsley, and Rockcastle counties.

Whether offering companionship, assisting behind the scenes, helping at special events, or sharing unique skills, the time our volunteers give truly matters.

HCP Volunteers Jerry Derringer and Ansuya Aiakat assist at the Rock the
Block Music Festival, a 2025 benefit event supporting Hospice Care Plus. Special event support is just one of the many ways our volunteers can help.

Ways Volunteers Serve

Volunteers support our mission in many ways, including:

  • Patient & Caregiver Companionship
  • Administrative Support
  • Grief & Loss Support
  • Special Events Support
  • Groundskeeping/Maintenance support
  • Veteran To Veteran support
  • and MORE!

We currently have a strong need for evening and weekend front desk volunteers at our Compassionate Care Center in Richmond.

This in-person training will take place on Saturday, March 21 from 9:30a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Madison County Public Library in Richmond.

“During our in-person training, volunteers hear directly from a hospice nurse, social worker, and chaplain and have the chance to ask questions in real time,” says Mariah Smith. “That face-to-face interaction helps them better understand our care team and feel confident stepping into their volunteer role.”

Who Should Attend?

Anyone ages 14 and up is welcome to train. Whether you can give two hours a month or several days a week, we will help you find a role that fits your life. Teens and college-aged students are especially encouraged to get involved and make a meaningful impact in their community while gaining valuable experience for their future.
