Compassionate Care Plus is a non-profit, community-based organization. The level of care and support we provide patients, families, and our community is only possible because of supporters who invest in our mission.
Creating Space for Joy: BJ & Aimee's Hospice Story
BJ’s decision to support Compassionate Care Plus was inspired by her mother, Aimee, and the care their family received during one of the most meaningful seasons of their lives. With hospice support, Aimee’s pain and symptoms were managed with compassion, allowing her and her family to focus on what mattered most: time together, connection, and moments of joy.
That experience is at the heart of our 2026 Giving Campaign, Creating Space for Joy. When you make a gift, you help ensure that patients and families across Estill, Jackson, Lee, Madison, Owsley, and Rockcastle counties have the same opportunity to experience comfort, dignity, and moments of joy, just like BJ and Aimee.
Gifts to our general fund allow us to offer these care programs:

- Inpatient hospice care at our Compassionate Care Center
- Grief & Loss Support Services

We provide care to all, even those who may be underinsured. Every patient and family deserves compassionate care when they need it most. Through the generosity of our donors, Compassionate Care Plus is able to help ease financial barriers and provide care and support to those facing difficult circumstances.
When we make a special experience possible for patients and families, like the recent art exhibit for a patient in our Home Hospice Program, that, too, is only possible because of community support.
Our Grief and Loss Support Program’s outreach to the community is 100% funded by donations. It is not reimbursed by any insurance program, and it does not invoice for care. When we hold support groups, work one-on-one with a child or adult, and host memorial services like the annual Remembrance Tree Ceremony, it is because of our donors.
Our speakers bureau is 100% funded by donations. Each year, we give free presentations on advance care planning, grief and loss, caregiver issues, and caring for those living with serious and advanced illness.

Partnering with us as an individual or corporate sponsor helps us offset the cost of hosting our annual fundraisers such as the Derby Eve benefit party and our Remembrance Tree Ceremony.

Legacy gifts help ensure that the work we do each day can continue for years to come. Planned Giving is the process of making a charitable gift, often in the form of a will, stocks/securities, life insurance, annuities, or trusts. Donating goods or services is a great way to support our work. Donations can range from items for charity auctions, snacks and drinks for our hospitality cart at the Compassionate Care Center, or donating your professional services such as photography, landscaping, video editing, and more.
