Our Grief & Loss Support Services are available to caregivers and families of hospice patients as well as the community at large. Thanks to the support of our donors, these services are provided at no cost.
Our support groups and series are facilitated by professional staff offering peer support and compassionate dialogue. We ask that you pre-register for group events and gatherings. Weekly Grief Support Gathering:
Our weekly grief support gathering takes place on Fridays from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at our Compassionate Care Center (350 Isaacs Ln) in Richmond. We're taking a break for the month of July, but will resume August 8 through December 19, 2025.

Grief Support Across Our Six-County Service Region:
We offer periodic limited-series grief support groups and workshops in the communities we serve. Our offerings for the Fall are listed below. Feel free to check back for any changes or updates.
Evening Grief Support Gathering
We will be offering a Tuesday Evening Grief Support Gathering beginning August 5.
The group will meet on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month at 5:30 p.m. at the Madison County Public Library (319 Chestnut Street, Berea).
This gathering is open to anyone who is grieving the loss of a loved one. It provides a safe, supportive space to share, listen, and connect with others who are also navigating grief.
We ask that you pre-register before attending.
Journaling Through Grief
We’ll meet on Thursday mornings, starting August 7 and running through October 23, from 10 to noon. The group will meet at the Estill County Public Library in Irvine. It’s open to anyone in the community, but please note that space is limited to just 12 people so we can keep it personal.
This series is facilitated by professional staff offering peer support and compassionate dialogue while utilizing the Understanding Your Grief text and journal by Dr. Alan Wolfelt.

Shadowbox Memorial Workshops
We will offer 4 separate opportunities to attend a shadowbox memorial workshop. These one-day workshops will be offered in both Jackson County & Rockcastle County. Information is below and we ask that you pre-register to attend.
Jackson County Shadowbox Memorial Workshops will take place on September 10 or October 8, from 10am to 1 pm at the Jackson County Extension Office (1408 Main Street, McKee). You may register for one of the Jackson County dates here.
Rockcastle County Shadowbox Memorial Workshops will take place on September 24 or October 22 at the Rockcastle County Extension Office (1050 W. Main Street, Mt. Vernon). You may register for one of the Rockcastle county dates here.

First Sunday in December
For decades, the Remembrance Tree Ceremony has been a chance for the community to remember loved ones during the holiday season.
Anyone who misses a loved one during the holidays is welcome to participate, regardless of whether your loved one was cared for by our hospice.

This booklet was created and published by our Grief and Loss Support team. We're happy to mail this to anyone who would like extra support as they grieve the loss of a loved one, regardless of whether our organization cared for them.
